About Mensa Musa Art

Mensa Musa was largely inspired by our upbringing in the heart of West Africa, born to a beautiful country named Senegal, also known as the "Gateway to Africa".

In Senegal, we welcome travelers from all around the world with peace and love. After moving to the United States and years of school and experience in the world, we decided we wanted to bring genuine handmade items from Africa to you. We began investing in an amazing gift shop filled with beautiful creations from all over Africa.

We started our shop with intricate hand-woven baskets created in the heart of the local “souks” by the incredible women of Senegal.  These beautiful baskets represent traditions passed down for centuries, and each basket holds a unique essence as it is woven by hand and with sustainable natural materials.

Our goal is to create a deeper connection to the motherland, changing colonial narratives of Africa by teaching our stories, our truths, and our love for Africa. In Africa We extend financial resources to local artists from Senegal, Mali, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Kenya. Recently, we added Zambia to our community, and we are continuously growing.
